Technical Research

Forestry Research Firm - Picture to the left is the prototype apparatus (based on the ASTM test method) that Perry designed and manufactured for his thesis project(2003 – 2004).  The prototype was used to test the friction resistance of petroleum and canola oil based lubricants.  He calculated the energy demands based on the friction resistance of canola oil, petroleum and blended lubricants to demonstrate the energy savings and product feasibility considerations that can be applied towards Triple Bottom Line Analysis.  The project and thesis research was successful with the following result “  The conclusion “Based on the test results and the above discussions, canola oil usage  in saw guide lubricants is a sustainable alternative to the traditional hydrocarbon based products.”
